I have been working on this project for a while now and feel it is time to share. I had an M30B34 from a 1986 535i laying around that was in desperate need of a chassis. After much reading and inspiration from various websites and members of r3vlimited I decided that an e30 chassis would be the perfect home for the BMW “Big-6”.

Here’s a shot of the engine shortly after I pulled it:

And soon enough I had the chassis:

My e30 is a 1991 318i.  This particular e30 is one of the rare examples that escaped the factory without a sunroof.  It was kind of torn apart because the last owner had started parting it out.  In short the thing was a basket case.  It had 50% of its headlights, no hood, no grills, 1 BMW wheel, 2 VW wheels (mismatched of course), and 1 random 4×100 steel wheel.

There has been quite a bit of progress on this project since I got it but that will have to wait for another day.  I just realized my photo documentation is sorely lacking so I will get on that and come back with some more updates.  But until then, stay tuned.
